US Approves Booster Dose For All Vaccinated

The US’ vaccination and lifting off covid restrictions in many states indicated that the country is better than many world countries in beating Covid-19 infections. But the recent spike in cases due to the Delta variant is hinting at a probable worst situation in the coming days.

Already the US has been registering more than 1000 deaths in a day due to Covid. On Tuesday, the number of deaths due to Covid in the US is 1017. There is a 70 percent increase in hospitalizations in the last two weeks.

While the unvaccinated are prone to infections and hospitalizations mostly, the country’s health officials admitted that the vaccine efficacy is decreasing over time. US authorized vaccine booster shots for all Americans from September 20 starting eight months after an individual has been fully vaccinated.

“The available data makes very clear that protection against (coronavirus) infection begins to decrease over time following the initial doses of vaccination, and in association with the dominance of the Delta variant, we are starting to see evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease,” read a statement from US’ top health official.
