Telangana: Corona Expert Committee Member Tests Positive

The Corona pandemic is on full throttle. With each passing day, the cases are increasing at a rapid pace and so are the deaths. Telangana, which is under fire for conducting fewer tests, is vulnerable to more number of cases in the coming days as the state has decided to conduct more tests in the coming days.

The other day, CM KCR stated that the government would conduct 50,000 tests in the 30 to 50 assembly constituencies of Hyderabad and surrounding districts alone. This is

In this background, the latest shocker is that none other than the Corona Expert Committee member has tested positive in the state.

Earlier in late March this year, the Telangana government had appointed a five-member expert committee for Covid-19. The committee was appointed to study the global developments with regard to Coronavirus and suggest measures to the State government on how to contain the spread of the virus.

The panel comprises Rakesh K Mishra, Director of Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), B Karunakar Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, S Chandrashekhar, Director of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), T Gangadhar, a Professor at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), and Balaji Utla, former Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Health Management and Research Institute (HMRI). This panel is led by Health Minister Etela Rajender.

The shocker is that NIMS professor Gangadhar, who is part of the experts committee, has been tested positive for Covid-19 the other day. This has sent shockwaves across the medical and health department in the state and also threw light on the ground reality. It indicates how rapidly Corona virus is spreading in the state.
