Telangana Puts Price Cap On Covid-19 Tests

After a lot of criticism, the Telangana government has finally decided to increase the testing of Covid-19 and also involve private hospitals. However, it would cost around Rs 4500 to undergo Covid-19 tests and for common man this is a huge burden. So the Telangana government has imposed a price cap, if people are getting tested at private hospitals.

Telangana health minister Eatala Rajender called on the media and informed that for private hospitals, Rs 2200 is the price cap, the government has decided. For treatment, without ventilator is Rs 7500 per day and with ventilator is Rs 9000 whereas for general ward treatment in private hospital is Rs 4000 per day.

Minister Eatala added that the cases are increasing in Hyderabad only after lifting the lockdown but denied that there is no community transmission. “Even ICMR said that there is no community transmission in Hyderabad. We are appealing to people that if they have any sort of symptoms, we are ready to perform test,” said Eatala.

These are much relieving steps by the Telangana government at last. This may result in increase in the number of cases in the state in the coming days but will create an awareness among people to be more cautious.
