Teary Farewell To Col Santosh Babu

It’s a teary farewell to Colonel Santosh Babu who was martyred on June 15th night at Galwan Valley in East Ladakh in a violent face off with Chinese troops. The emotionally charged crowd, who were in large numbers, have held national flags and raised slogans such as “Veeruda Vandanam” (Salute To Nation’s Hero), “Santosh Babu Amar Hai” (Long Live Santosh Babu) when the ambulance carrying the tricolour-wrapped coffin of Col Santosh Babu passed through their streets. Army personnel had brought Colonel Santosh’s mortal remains from Hyderabad to his residence in Suryapet in the ambulance. And it’s a grand welcome to Santosh Babu’s mortal remains from the long-standing crowds.

After the family, friends and relatives paying their respects and tributes, arrangements have been made to conduct a 5 km long funeral procession. Col Santosh Babu’s own Bihar Regiment will present the Guard of Honour during his final journey. The funeral procession is likely to begin at 10:30 am and local crowds are expected to participate in large numbers. After the funeral procession, Santosh Babu’s final resting spot will be at his ancestral property which is 5.1 kms away from his house in Suryapet town.

Earlier, a host of dignitaries, Telangana Governor Tamilisai, Ministers KTR, Mallareddy and several others from the government have paid tributes to Colonel Santosh Babu at Hakimpet Airforce Station in Hyderabad. Santosh’s wife had laid a wreath on the martyr’s mortal remains. Later, his mortal remains were shifted to his home town Suryapet in an ambulance arranged by army personnel.
