PM Modi’s safety and security: Rs 12 Cr Mercedes added to convoy!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a security upgrade and a massive Rs 12 crore car was added to his convoy. Apparently PM Modi started commuting in the four wheeler recently when Russia President Putin visited India.

Well the Rs 12 crore car is Mercedes Maybach S650 Guard limousine and it is custom built exclusively for the Indian Prime Minister. This is a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 516 bhp of power and a peak torque of approximately 900 Nm and can run at a top speed of 160 kmph.

Here are some of the features of Mercedes Maybach S650 Guard:

· The car comes with a 2010 Explosion Proof Vehicle (ERV) rating and is certified with VR10-level protection.

· Mayback S650 Guard has the ability to protect the occupants from a 15kg TNT explosion from a distance of only 2 meters.

· The glass windows of the car are made with polycarbonate and can withstand hardened steel core bullets.

· In case of a gas attack, there is a special air mechanism in the car.

· Not just with technicalities, the car also has luxury stuff. The passenger seat comes with a massager and repositionable rear seats.

· The Mercedes runs on special flat tyres in order to make sure it can escape quickly in case of an unwanted incident.

· The fuel tank is coated with special material that can seal holes automatically. This system is already being used in Boeing’s AH64 Apache attack helicopters.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) is responsible for providing security to high profile politicians who are in the highest constitutional positions. The SPG identifies the security threats and orders these cars from manufacturers and then modifies them appropriately. After extensive testing, the vehicle hit the roads.

Earlier PM Modi used BMW 7 Series High-Security Edition and until the Mayback C650 arrived, he was using Range Rover Sentinel.
