Father, Son of Hyd Top Pharmacy Dies of Corona

The owner and son of Hyderabad’s one of the top pharmacies died of Corona. The father-son duo died in the last couple of days triggering panic among the city’s medical store owners. While the Chairman was in his late 50s, his father was in his late 70s. While five members of the family had contracted the virus, two other members of the family are getting treated at a private multi-speciality hospital in the city.

It is one of the oldest pharmacies in the city. Started with just two employees with an initial investment of Rs 1.5 lakh in 1985, the firm went on to grow with Rs 500 crore turnover and has over 500 employees today. Three years after their first medical store, they ventured into the Pharma Distribution business in 1988. It distributes products from 480 pharma divisions from 300 companies. While their monthly turnover had touched Rs 1 crore in 1995, there was no looking back for the company. The owner’s brothers too joined the company.

After witnessing success in Pharma Distribution, the group started dealing Vaccines & speciality drugs in 2006. In 2014, they established a firm to make their own generic drugs.

While the family got busy with other businesses, they occasionally visited the store to monitor the operations. Recently, the store witnessed a huge rush. Some of their employees at the medical store were infected with Covid-19 and that’s how it seems to have spread to the family. While one of the top business families getting affected, this has sent shivers down the spine of other business families and medical store owners in Hyderabad.
