After India went on to ban TikTok along with many other Chinese applications, the US is also planning to impose a ban on TikTok. In a recent update, the tech giant Microsoft revealed its preliminary proposal with the firm ByteDance about acquiring TikTok in the US.
Microsoft on Sunday announced it would go ahead with the discussion with ByteDance within weeks from now about buying the app in the US, only after conversations between CEO Satya Nadella and President Donald Trump.
Microsoft said it is committed to acquiring TikTok with a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the US. Other American investors may get an invite to participate on a minority bases in this potential purchase. Microsoft is planning to conclude the discussions on the purchase before September 15.
The prime concern about TikTok is about the Chinese government could be sharing US user data with the app. The purchase by Microsoft would completely separate the Tiktok from the original Beijing-based company and Microsoft would ensure that all private date of TikTok’s American users is transferred to and remains in the US.
Microsoft is proposing to buy TikTok service in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand along with the US.
