Youngest & First Indian-Origin: Rishi Sunak As Next PM Of UK

Rishi Sunak will be the next Prime Minister of the UK, after Liz Truss quit. The drastic changes in the UK are a bit too much at the moment for the people of the country whose economy has headed into recession.

The former Finance minister Rishi Sunak will be the next Prime Minister and he is the youngest (42) and also the first person of color (Indian Origin) to hold the post. “I want to fix our economy, unite our party and deliver for our country,” Rishi said in a statement.

The pound rose briefly after it became clear that Rishi Sunak will be the next Prime Minister. Rishi earlier criticized Liz Triss’s tax-cutting agenda during the contest for leadership. He then said he would cut taxes only after bringing inflation under control.

Rishi Sunak is the third Prime Minister UK had in the last seven months, while Liz Truss is the PM for the shortest time in the country. Outgoing Prime Minister Truss resigned after the budget of tax cuts funded by debt sent shocks through markets leaving the pound to crash.

Rishi Sunak’s wife is Akshata Murty, daughter of Infosys Narayana Murthy.
