Telugu Lads Shine In IPL 2026 Auction

Several talented players from both Telugu states have made a solid impact in the Indian Cricket Team over the years. At present, happening youngsters like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Tilak Varma, who are representing the national team, have initially proved their calibre in the cash-rich Indian Premier League before making it to the international level. 

Now, two more youngsters are set to join IPL in the upcoming season. During Tuesday’s mini auction in Abu Dhabi, one uncapped player each from Andhra and Telangana were bought by the different franchises at base price. Left hand pacer Yerra Pruthviraj, who is hails from Tenali, and 21 year old Perala Aman Rao from Karimnagar were sold to Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals during this auction. 

Yerra Pruthviraj was previously picked by Kolkata Knight Riders and Sun Risers Hyderabad in earlier seasons. However, he didn’t get a chance to secure place in the final eleven and was confined to bench by both teams. This time, he was sold to Gujrat Titans for 30 lakhs. 

Perala Aman Rao was signed up by Rajasthan Royals for 30 lakhs price. This will be his first season in IPL. He is currently representing the Under 23 team of Hyderabad at Ranji level. His aggressive batting style during the recent Mushtaq Ali Tournament has pushed him into the limelight before the auction which helped him secure an IPL contract. He also scored two half centuries in the series and drew the attention of franchises. 

If both these Telugu players get a chance to showcase their talent in the 2026 season, it will be career changing moment for them as many youngsters across the country have utilised opportunities in IPL to secure place in the national team.
