Dark Side: Twitter Blue-Tick Program On Halt?

For a couple of days, most of the Twitter users who operate from the USA rushed to pay the coveted $8 to get a ‘blue tick’ on their profiles as the new Twitter boss Elon Musk introduced this money-making scheme from the platform. However, with every random user getting a blue tick, from hate mongers to fake profiles, everyone got verified, and they are all over the micro-blogging site, doing more damage than expected.

Shocked by the happenings, right now Twitter is said to have kept the blue-tick program on hold as multiple users from the USA have revealed that the verification program is on hold. Even users from Canada are also reporting the same, while the blue-tick scheme is yet to enter India officially where users could pay a monthly charge of ₹719 to get the verified badge. Other day a fake profile imitating a pharma giant got verified, and their tweet that ‘insulin will be free from now on’ completely resulted in the downfall of the stocks of the original pharma company.

Also, some fake profiles that got verified started tweeting badly about Saudi Arabia and Islamophobia. This is what the original creators of Twitter felt earlier, and hence there is an intensive process spread out to handle blue ticks to the users. Now that Elon Musk thought that making money on Twitter is pretty simple by selling the blue ticks for a monthly subscription, the dark side of the program is getting exposed.
