Three Railway Men Arrested In Odisha Train Tragedy Case

Three railway employees have been arrested in the tragic Odisha train accident that killed more than 300 people and left more than 1000 injured.

The CBI arrested three men Senior Section Engineer (signal) Arun Kumar Mahanta, Section Engineer Mohammed Amir Khan, and Technician Pappu Kumar and they have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and destruction of evidence.

The investigation reportedly revealed that the actions of these three men lead to the tragedy. The allegations say that these people ‘had knowledge’ that their actions would result in this big tragedy but not the ‘intent’, the reason why they have not been charged with murder.

The Commissioner of Railways Safety found the human error of workers in the signaling department responsible for it. The possibility of a sabotage or a technical glitch or a machine fault has been dismissed. The negligence was highlighted on the part of a few ground officials.

Three trains – Kolkata – Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru – Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train were involved in this tragedy.
