A DRDO scientist was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-terrorism squad for leaking high-confidential defense secrets to Pakistan. After digging into the case, the officials found out that he leaked Indian missile systems to a Pakistani intelligence agent disguising herself as a software engineer.
DRDO scientist Pradeep Kurulkar worked in Pune’s Defence sector as a lab director. A woman named ‘Zara Dasgupta’ befriended him as a software engineer from the UK and lured him with explicit pictures and videos. They started WhatsApp voice and video calls and he shared confidential information about the missile system with her.
Pradeep gave away information about drones, missiles, Brahmos, Agni missile launchers, UCV, and Military brigading systems to her during the chats. He shared information with her on his personal phone during the chats in June 2022. DRDO performed an internal secret operation and Pradeep blocked her number after knowing this in February this year.
Zara lured him to reveal official schedules and locations. Officials found out that Zara is chatting from Pakistan by tracing her IP address. They found that she is a Pakistani Intelligence Operative agent.
Pradeep was arrested on May 3 and has been in judicial custody since then.
