USA: Georgia Declares October As ‘Hindu Heritage Month’

In yet another recognition to the Indian community in the United States of America, the state of Georgia in the US has officially designated the month of October as ‘Hindu Heritage Month’. This is to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the vibrant Hindu-American community within the state.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a proclamation declaring October as the month to celebrate ‘Hindu heritage’.

The proclamation reads, ‘The vibrant Hindu American community has contributed tremendously to the vitality of the State of Georgia by enriching the lives of its citizens.’

Hindu Heritage Month is celebrated globally to highlight Hinduism as a tradition and its contributions to human society. There are nearly three million Hindus residing in the US.

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA), a Hindu advocacy group in the US, has welcomed the move and thanked Governor Kemp for recognising the contribution of the Hindu community.
