Shame! Another Honour Killing In Telangana

Just when we are yet to forget the Nalgonda honour killing that took place in 2018, another similar incident made it to the headlines and this time it happened in Hyderabad. Going into details, a youngster by name Hemanth who lives in Chandanagar married Avanthi after they were in a relationship.

However, the girl’s parents are against the wedding and were planning to break the wedding. Accordingly the girl’s father Lakshma Reddy along with his brother-in-law hatched a plan to kidnap Hemanth and Avanthi who were residing in Gachibowli’s TNGO colony.

Having hired professionals for this kidnap, both Hemanth and Avanthi were abducted. Somehow the girl managed to escape from the clutches of the kidnappers and dialled 100. Immediately the police stepped into action to find out the whereabouts of Hemanth.

After intensive search, the police found Hemanth’s dead body in Sangareddy. Confirming that he is dead, they have shifted Hemanth’s corpse to government hospital for autopsy. In the initial probe, the police said that Hemanth was hanged to death.

Based on Avanthi’s complaint, the police arrested Lakshma Reddy and nine others in connection with the case. The investigation is going on.

This is really a shameful incident and it clearly shows lack of awareness among parents who are not willing to accept people from other communities. Hope at least this incident will enlighten us all.
