First arrest in Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was seriously injured by an unidentified person at his Bandra residence in Mumbai couple of days ago. He was stabbed multiple times by an intruder at around 02:30 AM after a foiled robbery attempt. Saif was immediately rushed to Lilavati hospital for treatment by his family. The suspect fled the building in a dramatic manner, but was captured in the CCTV footage while getting down the stairs.

On Saturday afternoon, Mumbai police with the help of Railway Protection Force officials have detained one individual in Chattisgarh while he was travelling on Mumbai – Jnaneswari express. As per reports, the suspect, identified as Sandeep alias Akash has been detained at Durg railway station just a while ago. He was immediately taken into custody and is being interrogated to get more details.

The police is yet to confirm whether he is the same person who is suspected in the assault of the actor. Earlier, there were reports that a person was arrested by the police in connection with the case. However, the news turned out to be false because a carpenter who worked in Saif Ali Khan’s residence two days before the incident was questioned by the police and later taken to an undisclosed location.

After going through the CCTV footage, the Mumba police launched a search operation and noticed that the suspect took a train out of Mumbai to escape arrest. The train number and photo was sent to RPF who have reportedly alerted its staff in all station. Finally, he was detained at Durg station and the team from Mumbai is going to bring him back for further investigation.

The actor meanwhile underwent surgery and remains stable. The police have recorded the statements of several witnesses including Kareena Kapoor. She stated that nothing in the house was stolen by the intruder.
