Mahakumbh Mela witnessed a heavy influx of pilgrims from the nation and even abroad. Devotees at Mahakumbh also visited Varanasi and Ayodhya, also located in Uttar Pradesh and revered by Hindus as holy places, after taking a holy dip in the Sangam waters at Prayagraj.
Undeterred by the stampede during the Mela on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on January 29, devotees continued to throng Prayagraj and take a holy dip in the sacred waters.
Among those who visited Prayagraj, devotees from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana said that the signboards in Telugu have been very helpful for them in navigating to Varanasi and Ayodhya, which also witnessed an increase in footfalls after the onset of Mahakumbh last month.
The Telugu devotees acknowledged that the signboards in their language helped them reach and visit other holy places in the state.
They are happy that the authorities considered them as a significant community of pilgrims that could visit the holy places in a different state.
Probably, the UP government set up signboards in other languages, including Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, at different places in the state, to help the visitors with a guided travel.
