Generally, top police officials remain under high security even after retirement due to the risky operations they handle during their service. However, in the case of Karnataka’s former DGP, his own family members have emerged as the prime suspects in his killing.
According to the latest reports, former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash, who retired in 2017, had been living with his family at HSR Layout in Bengaluru. His wife, Pallavi, along with their son and daughter, resided with him in the same house.
On Sunday evening, a shocking incident unfolded when Om Prakash’s lifeless body was found in the swimming pool of his residence, bearing multiple stab wounds. The pool was soaked in blood, and the body had visible injuries indicating a brutal attack.
At the time of the incident, his wife and daughter were present in the house. The police officer who first arrived at the scene noted that there were no signs of forced entry, making the two women key suspects in the ongoing investigation.
Reportedly, before the killing occurred around 4:30 PM on Sunday, Pallavi made a phone call to the wife of another retired police officer, claiming she had “killed a monster.” She is now the prime suspect in the case and is currently in police custody. The body of the former DGP has been sent for postmortem examination.
Preliminary investigations suggest that property disputes and marital issues could be the motive behind this high-profile murder. A sharp weapon was recovered from the house, which is believed to have been used in the stabbing.
