For the first time in the country, a non-Muslim youth has topped the entrance test for Islamic studies. This rare feat was done by a Hindu youth. 21-year-old Shubham Yadav from Jaipur’s Alwar stood first in the country in the Central University Common Entrance Test in Islamic Studies. Shubham created a record by becoming first non-Muslim in the country to top the national entrance test.
Shubham Yadav is a philosophy graduate from Delhi University. He wanted to study Islamic religion in depth and understand it. He said there were “misconceptions” about Islam and he said it was the most “misunderstood” religion. Shubham aims to become a civil servant and said the study on Islam would be helpful for UPSC preparations.
Meanwhile, Shubham Yadav didn’t get opposition from his parents and family members. He said in fact, his father has supported his idea. Shubham’s father is a businessman in Alwar and mother is a housewife.
However, Shubham’s parents were concerned about his safety and security as Shubham is going to study Islam in Kashmir. Out of the 14 central universities in the country, colleges in Kashmir are the only ones offering the course in Islamic Studies. Shubham is going to study in Kashmir for two years.
