The youth and students in Andhra Pradesh have a reason to cheer. Another reputed institution is ready to open its campus in Amaravati. BITS Pilani, known for its eminence, will invest over Rs 2,200 crore on expansion, including an ‘AI+ Campus’ at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh, its Chancellor and industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla said. The investment will be made in phases over a period of five years.
Speaking at the convocation of the institution, Birla reaffirmed BITS Pilani’s commitment to nation-building as India aspires to become a 10-trillion dollar economy and a knowledge superpower. Birla’s plan to set up a campus in Amaravati would cheer both students and parents as it would help in pursuing quality education programmes that would open up new avenues in their life. At the same time, it would also encourage students from the nation and other countries to descend on Amaravati for latest digital courses.
As part of it, three initiatives would be taken up. The first is Vistaar under which existing campuses of BITS, in Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa which would be further strengthened with new academic blocks, cutting-edge research facilities, student hostels, and other amenities.
The second initiative is AI+ Campus in Amaravati, Birla said. “BITS Pilani will establish a one-of-a-kind AI+ Campus at Amaravati with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. This institution will focus on preparing Indian talent for leadership in the defining technologies of our time. The Amaravati campus will specialise in AI, data science, robotics, computational linguistics, and cyber-physical systems. Extra efforts would be put to make the Amaravati campus a hub for research and entrepreneurship, with sustainable infrastructure to support over 7,000 students.
The third initiative of the institute is BITS Pilani Digital, an EdTech platform, that would extend BITS Pilani’s spirit of excellence and innovation into the nation.
BITS Pilani Digital, in the next five years, will launch 32 programmes, including 11 degree and 21 certificate courses, serving over 1,00,000 learners from high-school graduates to college students to working professionals, he said.
With Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the helm of affairs, Andhra Pradesh can hope to witness a bright future as it would get transformed into a hub for latest technologies and innovations. In the next six months, AP will have the Quantum Valley exploring new horizons in the new technology. In adition, BITS’ AI campus would augment development and employment.
