Stop Hiring Indians, Trump Tells Microsoft, Google

US President Donald Trump is vehemently opposing the global mindset and wants all the US-based firms to focus on Making America Great Again (MAGA). After opposing US firms shifting parts of their business to different countries, now, he has sent a strong message to tech giants — Microsoft and Google to stop hiring talent globally, which includes India too.

This could have a pronounced impact on the Indian youth and their career choices. Trump’s message also makes one understand the reasons behind the cracking down on H1-B visa holders and international students in US.

He was speaking at the AI Summit held in Washington on Wednesday and said that the US companies should create jobs at home instead of setting up factories in China and giving jobs to tech workers from India. He said that several tech firms invested heavily outside of America, despite profiting from the American freedom. Under President Trump, those days have come to an end.

He criticized the US tech firms for reaping benefits from the American freedom, building their business in China, hiring workers from India and stashing all their profits in Ireland. All this was done ignoring the welfare of the fellow citizens’ at home, he pointed out. He insisted that the US firms should put America first on their priority list.

The US President said that winning the AI race would demand a new spirit of patriotism and national loyalty in Silicon Valley and beyond.

At the Summit, Trump signed three executive orders — national strategy to boost AI development, urging companies to get federal funding to develop AI to create politically neutral models and providing aid, export and full stack to American-made AI tools.

It has to be seen how the tech firms would respond to Trump’s suggestion.
