It’s Official: Online Money-Gaming Is Banned In India!

As we had been extensively reporting about the last few months, there have been several reports about common folk being seriously affected by the online gaming culture. There were several suicides and severe financial distress cases of people losing money on these online games that have been increasing in volume exponentially.

In what could be considered an extremely timely and welcome move, the Indian Parliament has passed the bill to ban online gaming in India.

The bill that was passed in the Lok Sabha a few minutes back largely cut down on the online gaming operations and related activities in the country. Any sort of gaming activities involving money are to be stopped immediately under the legal jurisdiction of this newly passed bill.

This could mean the end of the road for several online gaming platforms like Dream11, My11Circle, and others. These platforms have been operating in the zone of online gaming and fantasy gaming with real money involved.

It is primarily established that the victims and users of the online gaming is will not be punished under the law. But the organisers and advertisers will be severely punished if they continue with the online gaming operations henceforth.
