What Is Polluting Young Minds?

A shocking incident in Hyderabad has left the city in deep distress after a 14 year old Class 10 boy brutally murdered a 10 year old girl. According to police, the boy entered the girl’s house allegedly to steal a cricket bat but when she confronted him, he attacked her with a knife and stabbed her more than 20 times on her neck and stomach. Investigators later found his diary where he had written disturbing plans, including stealing money and even causing a gas leak explosion, which shows the crime was not just sudden anger but carefully thought out.

The sheer brutality of the act has raised serious questions on what influences are shaping young minds today. Experts say that exposure to violent online games like PUBG and Free Fire, which glorify killings and battles, may be one of the reasons behind such behavior. At the same time, lack of parental supervision, poor emotional support, and the absence of counseling in schools are leaving many children unable to handle anger, frustration, or rejection in a healthy way.

This is not the first time India has seen such violent crimes by juveniles, and the pattern is deeply worrying. When a teenager can plan and execute such a gruesome act, it reflects a dangerous trend in society. Parents need to be more alert, schools must provide guidance and counseling, and society as a whole must rethink how much exposure children are given to uncontrolled digital violence. The Hyderabad case is not just about one tragedy, but a reminder that urgent action is needed to prevent the shaping of young minds into dangerous paths.
