Paying on UPI? No PIN Needed from Today!

Digital transactions have become the mainstream mode of payment in India, with UPI emerging as the most popular payment system across the country. Virtually everyone with a smartphone uses a UPI application for daily payments, making it an essential part of everyday life.

However, the latest development marks a significant update for UPI users. Starting today, October 8, a new feature is coming into effect that changes the way transactions are authenticated.

From now on, users will no longer need to manually enter their PIN for UPI transactions. Instead, the application will use biometric verification, such as facial recognition or fingerprint scanning, to process payments.

Previously, users had to enter a four-digit or six-digit PIN to complete a transaction. But with the new update, UPI applications will verify and complete the transaction using the biometric data stored on the phone, making the process faster and more seamless.

While this update makes UPI payments more convenient, some users have expressed concerns about security. They believe the traditional PIN-based system was more secure and exclusive, whereas relying solely on facial or fingerprint authentication might pose certain risks.
