Apple Lays Off Employees In Sales Team: Reports

Tech giants like Amazon, Verizon, IBM, and Tata Consultancy Services have already laid off thousands of employees this year, citing the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool capable of handling routine and repetitive tasks.

On Monday, Apple also joined the list, announcing job cuts across its sales teams to improve customer interaction. The company clarified that only a small number of positions would be affected.

According to Reuters, Apple will continue hiring in other departments, and impacted employees will be allowed to apply for open roles within the company.

Bloomberg reported that the layoffs include account managers handling major clients, schools, and government agencies. Staff running Apple’s briefing centers, where institutional meetings and product demos are conducted were also affected.

The cuts reportedly hit a government sales team that works closely with the U.S. Defense Department and Justice Department. For this team, the layoffs are another blow, as they are already dealing with disruptions caused by the 43-day U.S. government shutdown and budget restrictions imposed by the Department of Government Efficiency (EOGE).
