With N. Chandrababu Naidu being at the helm of affairs, Andhra Pradesh government has been aligning multiple systems and governance to technology. Continuing in the same direction, ambulances, VIPs and judges would also be provided green channels for seamless travel to their destination.
In the New Year, green channels would be implemented for which ‘e-path’ application would be made available, aligning it with the AI tool Astram, used to monitor the traffic movement in various areas of Vijayawada. As the city is transforming into a medical hub, the authorities identified the requirement to streamline the traffic for the ambulances.
There are a total of 52 junctions in Vijayawada. The Astram AI tool helps in monitoring the traffic rush at every junction as information is passed on to a command control centre. The AI tool assists in getting info about the extent to which vehicles got jammed at every junction.
After aligning the e-path app to Astram, the latter would be turned into an app and placed in Playstore for public use. On registering using the citizen login option, the services of the app can be used. The authorities felt the need for the ambulance-friendly app as several corporate and super specialty hospitals are opening in Vijayawada every year drawing patients from Godavari, NTR, Krishna and Prakasam districts.
On any given day, over 40-50 ambulances are plying on the roads in Vijayawada. In addition to the local ambulances, those coming from districts are finding it hard to move on congested roads. Traffic police are also facing problem in streamlining the traffic to allow the ambulances move uninterruptedly. In the wake of the practical problems being faced by the traffic police, the authorities have decided to ease the route of ambulances and VIPs.
