Acting swiftly on the alleged obscene video circulated on Monday, the state government of Karnataka has ordered immediate suspension of DGP cadre officer K Ramachandra Rao, who is heading the Civil Rights Enforcement wing. This development comes after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah warned that serious action would be taken on the officer after preliminary investigation.
After the sleazy intimate acts of DGP Ramachandra Rao went viral, a huge backlash erupted on social media platforms and mainstream media channels to take a strict action against the grave misconduct in official capacity. The incident has left the entire police department red faced as the DGP’s compromising acts took place right in his office with multiple women involved.
Though Ramachandra Rao claimed that the videos were fake and made with artificial intelligence, the prima facie evidence and his bad reputation due to several controversies in the past has led to huge uproar among the public and prompted immediate action from the top brass. Rao was suspended last year after his stepdaughter and actress Ranya Rao was caught by customs officers for smuggling gold. He was later reinstated back to duty.
On Monday night, official orders placing DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement) K Ramachandra Rao under suspension with immediate effect pending inquiry, citing conduct unbecoming of a government servant and causing embarrassment to the state administration were released by the state government.
The government said the matter was examined at the state level and it was found that the officer’s conduct amounted to a violation of Rule-3 of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968. The order also restricts his movement, stating that during the suspension period the officer should not leave headquarters under any circumstances without the written permission of the state government
