In a shocking incident, thirty-year-old Sunitha, a software engineer, was allegedly murdered by her ex-husband at Vanasthalipuram area in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Police said that her ex-husband, Mahesh, assaulted and stabbed her in Green City Colony around noon. Reportedly, Mahesh and Sunitha got married five years ago. Following disputes between them and their families too, they got divorced last year.
Just a few weeks ago, Sunitha got married to another person, which enraged Mahesh. He got frustrated that Sunitha could move on even after getting divorced. Consumed by jealousy, her ex-husband plotted a murder. He followed Sunitha and conducted a recce of the area where she was living.
Around noon, he barged into Sunitha’s house carrying two knives and a petrol can, when she was alone. They had a fierce altercation and in a fit of rage, he stabbed her multiple times. When she collapsed on the ground, he bludgeoned on her head with a flower pot.
On hearing Sunitha’s cries for help, her neighbours alerted the police who rushed to the spot but by that time, Mahesh absconded.
After a few hours, police traced Mahesh and took him into custody from a nearby place. Police said that Mahesh could not digest that Sunitha was living happily despite getting separated from him.
The incident would make one think twice before going for second marriages as jealousy could prove fatal to life.
