T20 WC: India Lands In Toughest Group, What Next?

Something very strange is happening with the ongoing T20 World Cup as the scheduling and the finalisation of the groups has invited a lot of debate and discussion. Now this is getting elevated further as ICC has messed up the grouping format as all the top ranked teams in the group stages are put in the same bracket in super 8 stage.

Incidentally, the upcoming knockout stages of the T20 World Cup will feature one highly competitive group while the other group is going to be consisting secluded teams.

Particularly in the case of India, the host nation will be facing West Indies, Zimbabwe and South Africa and the point of different year is that all these teams are the highest ranked in their respective groups in the earlier stage.

The interesting thing here is that India, West Indies, Zimbabwe and South Africa had not lost a single game in the tournament till now, and ideally they should be facing the lower ranked teams. But the grouping and scheduling was done in such a way that they have all ended up in the same group in the super 8 stage.

Subsequently, India will have to face some of the toughest in this knockout stage as every single opponent here is in prime form. This can ultimately prove to be a good thing for India, considering they will be refining their performances. But the odd grouping done by the ICC needs to be observed here.
