First T20: India Makes A Terrific Comeback!

Team India has won the first T20 international against Australia played at Manuka Oval, Canberra. Having won the toss, Australia has opted to bowl first and so India started the batting proceedings.

Mitchell Starc ripped through Shikhar Dhawan with a superb Yorker as India lost their first wicket in the third over. Captain Kohli entered the scene but he did not last long. He was dismissed by debutant Swepson for nine runs. Once again KL Rahul had to shoulder the innings and scored a half century. But then India lost quick wickets and was just 92 runs for five wickets. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja showed what he can do with the bat in the end. He scored 44 runs of 23 balls. But Jadeja was hit on the helmet in the 20th over and he was substituted by Yuzvendra Chahal.

Chasing the target, Australia made a brilliant start. Aussie captain Aaron Finch batted brilliantly and the opening stand went for 56 runs. After dismissing Finch, the dangerous Smith was sent to pavilion by Chahal for just 12 runs. In the end Henriques tried to resist India’s victory but in vain.

Finally India won the match by 11 runs while the substitute Chahl won the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
