It is already known that several global companies have been firing employees at a very aggressive rate over the last couple of years. Now we have the case of Amazon, which is reportedly planning to fire more employees as early as next month.
In January this year, Amazon had fired over 16,000 employees worldwide, and this is one of the biggest restructuring done by the company in its history.
Now the latest developments are suggesting that Amazon could be firing another 14,000 employees in the next few weeks itself. Apparently, this new round of firings could be starting in May and could progress for a few weeks correspondingly.
In total, Amazon would be firing as many as 30,000 jobs in the year 2026 itself, and this is a pretty significant number by all means.
The latest round of layoffs will primarily target the retail sector, and also the Amazon web services which have been the largest hosts of jobs within the company.
Amazon leadership has confirmed that the company is aligning with AI revolution globally, and the restructuring of human workforce is a result of the same. It is shockingly obvious to see AI being cited as the main reason for major human layoffs by almost all the major global companies.
