15 Killed as Earthquake Hits Mindanao, Tsunami Alert Issued

The geographical location of certain South Asian countries are so peculiar that they are always prone to natural disasters. One such country is the Philippines and they have now faced a problematic natural disaster.

According to the latest reports from global media channels, a strong shallow earthquake with magnitude ~7.8 struck offshore Sarangani Bay near General Santos City, Mindanao, Philippines, at 7:37 AM local time on June 8, 2026.

It caused intense shaking and led to building collapses, including multiple Jollibee outlets in the city. The videos of the common public panicking due to the extreme nature of this earthquake are now going viral on social media.

Tsunami warnings remain in effect for coastal areas of Mindanao and nearby regions with possible waves over 1 meter. As of the moment that we are typing this it is established that at least 15 people were killed by 129. Others were injured due to the impact of the earthquake.
