The Indian population has this incredible academic inclination that keeps them in leading positions if some of the biggest companies in the world. Now we have a proud addition to this list and it’s from our very own Telugu states.

The discussion is about Uday Ruddaraju who has made the Telugu community, proud with his astonishing achievements in the field of technology and software development. He has gone from studying in a private engineering College in Hyderabad to becoming the chief technology officer of Open AI, which runs and operates ChatGPT.

Originally, Uday graduated from a private college in Hyde in 2011 and landed an internship at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he gained valuable exposure to cloud infrastructure. He later moved to the US to pursue a Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota.

From 2013 to 2018, he worked at eBay, helping modernize its cloud infrastructure, drive Kubernetes adoption, and scale engineering systems. In 2018, he joined Robinhood, where he led the infrastructure organization as the platform grew from 1 million to 24 million users, ensuring reliability at massive scale.

In 2024, he became Head of Infrastructure Engineering at xAI, leading compute, networking, storage, research infrastructure, and data centers.

In 2025, he joined OpenAI to lead Computer Infrastructure. He made very quick progress here, and he has now been appointed as the new CTO of Open AI, which would mean that he will be running the technological operations at this massive AI oriented giant.

This really is an inspirational journey from a Telugu guy who was just like any other engineering student in Hyderabad, but had big dreams and work towards them which made him the CTO of one of the biggest companies in the world today.
