Foreign tourists visiting Tirupati will now get an easier travel option as the Government of India has added Tirupati Airport to the list of international entry points for E Visa holders.
The Union Government has notified 11 more international ports where foreigners holding valid Indian E Visas can enter the country. The new list includes Tirupati and Bhopal airports, along with nine land ports.
With this addition, the total number of international ports allowing E Visa holders to enter India has increased to 88. The list now includes 37 airports, 38 seaports and 13 land ports.
The inclusion of Tirupati Airport is expected to be particularly useful for foreign devotees and tourists visiting the famous Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala.
Tirupati is one of India’s most important pilgrimage destinations and attracts visitors from several countries every year. Direct E Visa entry through Tirupati Airport could make the journey easier for international devotees, especially those planning to visit the Tirumala temple and other important places in Andhra Pradesh.
The Government said the move is aimed at making India’s visa system easier and more convenient for genuine foreign travellers while also improving security through technology.
India introduced the E Visa facility in 2014 for citizens of 43 countries. It is now available to citizens of 172 countries. The government said around 95 percent of E Visa applications are processed within 72 hours.
With Tirupati now included among the approved entry points, foreign visitors with valid E Visas will have another convenient gateway to reach one of India’s biggest spiritual destinations.
