Supreme Court Gives Relief: But Comedians Must Be Careful!

The Supreme Court of India had earlier cracked down on stand-up comedians who were crossing the line when it comes to political matters and also social dignity.

The likes of Samay Raina, Apoorva and others faced the music for the same and are still meddled with FIRs for the same. However, a sense of responsibility has started to take shape within the community after this legal action.

The Supreme Court appointed out that it is good to see several stand-up comedians, incorporate social well-being into their ecosystem now. This comment came shortly after Samay Raina, who restarted his India’s got latent show by adding a campaign to fund physically disabled and underprivileged in the same.

Taking this as a positive reinforcement of the Supreme Court has communicated that the earlier FIRs filed against Samay and his team for comments on disabled people are quashed now.

While this might be a positive reinforcement from the Supreme Court for mending their ways, these standup folk must be cautious about their future course of action. Passing lewd comments on societal norms in the name of comedy is not acceptable at all times.
