iPhone EMI Dispute Turns Tragic, Claims Lives Of Entire Family

A tragic family dispute over what is believed to be a demand for iPhone EMI payments led to three deaths near Tisgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. What is more distressing is that the entire episode was captured in cameras by the public.

Going into the details, 18-year-old Kunal Chandwade bought an expensive iPhone and began asking his parents for money to pay the monthly EMI installments. This led to a heated argument at home with his father.

Upset over the disagreement, Kunal left home and walked up to Khavdya Dongar, a steep hill in the area, around 10 am on Friday. He threatened to end his life over the argument with parents. The boy’s father Murlidhar and mother Sangeeta rushed to the hill to console and convince him for withdrawing the extreme decision .

Over the next three hours, family members, local residents, police, and fire personnel tried desperately to calm the teenager. Local villagers and officials pleaded with him to step back, with a former local leader even offering to buy him a phone if he stepped away from the edge.

When his father moved closer to grab Kunal, both lost their balance and fell from the cliff into the gorge below. Seeing her husband and son plunge down the hillside, Sangeeta also jumped off the cliff moments later.

All three members of the family died at the scene. Police officers later recovered their bodies from the difficult terrain and sent them for a post-mortem examination before handing them over to relatives.
