Tea Break Saved Telugu Pilgrims From Nepal Floods

What looked like a routine tea break turned into a life saving moment for a group of Telugu pilgrims travelling to Kailash Mansarovar. A 30 minute stop at a hotel reportedly helped them escape a massive flash flood in Nepal that swept away a bridge.

A group of 26 pilgrims from Tirupati had travelled to Nepal through a Travels for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. After reaching Kathmandu, they stayed at a hotel, while 21 of them later continued their journey by bus.

The bus stopped at a hotel on the way for tea. The pilgrims spent around 30 minutes there before continuing their journey. Little did they know that the brief halt would completely change the course of their trip.

The pilgrims were supposed to cross a bridge near the hotel. Meanwhile, landslides struck the area and a massive flood suddenly surged through the route, washing away the bridge.

A luggage vehicle that had gone ahead of the pilgrims was caught on the bridge after the landslide. Seeing the danger, locals immediately alerted the bus driver and asked him to turn back.

The driver quickly reversed the bus and moved it to a higher and safer location. Within just five minutes, the bridge was completely swept away. The pilgrims reportedly watched the destruction from only around 50 to 100 metres away.

The Tirupati pilgrims later said they could have faced a completely different situation had they not stopped for tea. After staying safely at a hotel, they eventually reached Delhi. Their miraculous escape is now being widely discussed as a case of how a simple tea break saved their lives.
