Hyd Nurse Murder: Police Arrest Accused Within 48 Hours

Even after 14 years since the horrific Nirbhaya rape has shook the moral conscience of the entire country and pushed for a collective voice to demand stringent laws, rapes against women continue to take place every now and then across the country without any restraint.

In another shocking instance, a 21-year-old nurse was tragically raped and murdered in her room at Tukkuguda near Hyderabad last Saturday. The victim identified as Uke Sirisha resisted the rape attempt and tried to raise an alarm, but she was strangled to death by the accused named Mohammed Sana Ullah, a migrant from Bihar who is working as a bike mechanic in the same area.

The police have immediately launched an investigation and arrested the accused in less than two days. Investigation revealed that the man had been secretly watching her daily movements for almost a month before carrying out the crime.

On the night of the attack, the nurse was alone because her roommate was away. A neighbor had invited her to stay over, but she preferred to sleep in her own room. Taking advantage of the dark, the accused entered through her open window while she was fast asleep, under the heavy influence of alcohol.

He reportedly choked her and then sexually assaulted her, before leaving the crime of offence and going back to his residence nearby.

Investigators solved the case by carefully checking local CCTV footage. Cameras captured suspicious movements around the garage three times after midnight. Police also found physical scratches on the suspect, while mobile phone data and explicit photos on his device further linked him directly to the scene of the crime.
