In what could be said to be a shocking development, the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs conducted a food safety drive on September 26 across Madhapur, Hitech City, and Gachibowli, uncovering serious food safety violations at several restaurants in Hyderabad.
Following the inspections, TG SAFE reportedly suspended the licences of 11 restaurants and ordered them to stop operations immediately. Popular restaurants like Antera(Gachibowli), Kanchi Cafe, Monastery (Hitech City), Sai Ram Mess (Madhapur), Udupi’s Upahar, Am Aha Telugu Kitchen and Bar (Inorbit Mall), Fusion 9/Amnesia Sky Bar (Inorbit Mall), Shadab Hotel (Madina), Dreamz Cafeteria (Bagh Lingampally) and Asiatic Café (Panjagutta) were the ones whose licenses were reportedly suspended.
The inspection teams reportedly discovered expired food items, poor storage facilities, and unhygienic cooking areas. Several other restaurants like Sahibs Barbeque, Viruntha Foods (Ishtaa) and Pakka Local received notices from officials to change their infrastructure.
On the other hand, show-cause notices were given to 63 Degrees Modern Regional Buffet (Gachibowli), Minerva Grand (Kondapur) and Hotel Avasa (Hitech City), directing them to follow food safety norms.
