Hyderabad Ranks 2nd In India For Unsold Falts

The Indian real estate market is witnessing a volatile period now, and this is due to the layoffs in the job market and reduced employment opportunities. The brunt of the attack is being faced by big cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, and others.

It is now being established that Hyderabad has reached the second position in the country when it comes to cities with the highest number of unsold residential apartments.

According to the latest real estate reports, Hyderabad housing market is facing a squeeze as sales slow even as construction costs rise.

Reportedly, residential apartment registrations fell 9% YoY in August, while 2026 first half home sales dropped 13% to 26,068 units. At the same time, developers launched 49,656 homes, taking the unsold inventory up 21% to 1.43 lakh units.

Reportedly, there is a 29 month overhang in the existing vacant housing inventory compared to the average sales volume. This essentially means the city is witnessing a significant slowdown in the real estate market.

As of now, there is a total of 1.08 lakh unsold residential units in Hyderabad, which is next only to Mumbai, which has more than 1.92 lakh vacant units. Delhi comes third with 89,000 unsold units.

There is a significant slowdown in the real estate market across India, but it is interesting to note that Hyderabad is facing the second worst recession across the country.
