Meta Takes Down 5.3 Million Child S*xual Content In India!

It is already known that Meta which operates some of the leading social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp recently came under the radar of the Indian authorities. This was due to the fact that there were allegations that Meta was running ads related to child s*xual content.

The company had recently met with the Indian authorities and promised to take severe action against all the concerned individuals.

Now there is significant progress in this direction as this leading social media platform has initiated action against such content not just in India, but also globally.

Meta has announced additional measures to combat child s*xual exploitation (CSE) across Facebook and Instagram, including new AI tools designed to detect harmful ads and activity linked to illegal content.

Between January and June 2026, Meta said it actioned 5.3 million pieces of CSE content in India, with more than 98% detected and addressed proactively before they were reported. Globally, it actioned 33.2 million pieces, with more than 97% proactively identified.

It is shocking to note that there is so much child related content circulating on Indian social media. This is not a positive sign by any stretch of the imagination.
