Hyderabad is historically popular for producing some of the best cricket matches, and this was again on display last night. India came up against West Indies in the fourth T20 game of the ongoing series, and it was a complete entertainer.
West Indies batted first and they scored a sensation, 247 runs in the first end. But considering the strong batting lineup of India, everyone expected the team to perform exceptionally in the second innings and actually clinch the game.
But that was not to be the case as India struggled in the second innings as they simply could not find the required momentum to chase down this massive target of nearly 250 runs.
There was a significant fight back from the Telugu pair of Tilak Varma and Nitish Reddy in the closing stages. The two of them combined to score more than 70 runs together and looked set to take India to safe shores at one point.
But both of them got out back to back in the penultimate overs which resulted in a loss of momentum in the end. Subsequently, West Indies was able to restrict India to 223 runs and won the game by a margin of 24 runs.
This is a crucial win for the West Indies team as they are currently alive in the series, which is drawn at 2 games each. It will all come down to the result in the fifth and final T20 game of the series, which is going to be played on October 17, in Bengaluru.
