As per reports, Accenture is limiting the use of Anthropic’s Claude AI tool among its employees. The IT giant reportedly introduced a monthly spending limit of $29 (around Rs 2,700) per employee. Majority of its employees will now have to access Claude with the meager $29 monthly allocation. Some employees on premium plans have higher usage limits, while others may face restrictions on how much AI they can use.
Accenture informed employees about this change through an internal memo, said a report by 404 Media. The new limits came into effect on October 1.
The report said several employees had been using AI services worth more than $1,000 (around Rs 94,800) a month. The new limit has reportedly forced some employees to reconsider how they use the tool for their daily work.
However, Accenture has not completely stopped employees from using Claude beyond the monthly limit. Those who need additional usage must submit a Work Breakdown Structure, identifying the project or team that will cover the extra cost.
Meanwhile, Accenture is not the only company looking to control spending on AI tools. Several major companies have introduced restrictions as the cost of using advanced AI services continues to rise.
Uber introduced a monthly limit of $1,500 per employee for individual AI coding tools after reportedly exhausting its annual AI budget within the first four months of 2026.
Microsoft and Meta have also reportedly restricted internal access to Claude Code as they increasingly focus on their own AI tools.
The latest move highlights how companies are trying to balance the benefits of AI adoption with the rising costs of using these tools across large workforces.
