What’s Happening In Indian Women Cricket Team?

For the last few years, there has been consistent progress with regard to the development of women Cricket. In fact, the ICC has made the tournament prizes and winning revenues for women are almost on par with the men’s competitions.

Incidentally, the Indian women’s cricket team has been one of the best performing teams in the world of late. But it appears that things are not very smooth within the team as certain changes are made to the leadership positions.

Harmanpreet Kaur, who had been leading the team for many years now has been removed from this position, and Smriti Mandana was appointed as the captain for the recent series against Zimbabwe.

This was aggravated when Harmanpreet was spotted breaking down while delivering a speech after the game against Zimbabwe last night. After having served as the captain of the Indian team for so many years, this emotional reaction from Harmanpreet immediately gained attention on social media.

People are commenting that the chemistry within the Indian team might be in question as previous captain, Harmanpreet appears to have undergone a tough transition. Newly appointed captain Smriti Mandana is holding the position now.

There are even reports that Smriti and Harmanpreet did not even shake the hands after the compilation of the game last night. This has immediately led to speculations about the chemistry within the team.

But at the same time, a few people are commenting that Harmanpreet had been kept captaining the Indian team for more than a decade, and it is time for her to move on from this position with youngsters coming up.
