Tesla Model Y At ₹19,990 Per Month? Here’s The Catch

Tesla is attracting Indian buyers with an offer that makes owning a Model Y look surprisingly affordable. Customers can pay ₹6 lakh as a down payment, with monthly payments advertised at around ₹39,990 under a seven-year finance plan.

But the real catch is the headline figure of ₹19,990 per month. Tesla arrives at this amount by deducting estimated fuel and maintenance savings from the EMI. It is not the actual monthly instalment.

The company assumes that buyers can save around ₹20,000 every month by switching from a petrol or diesel car to an electric SUV. However, these savings depend on driving distance, fuel prices and charging costs.

There is another important point. The loan follows a step-up EMI structure, meaning payments increase over time and can become significantly higher in later years. Buyers should check the complete repayment schedule before making a decision.

The Tesla Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive starts at ₹50.89 lakh ex-showroom in India, while the Model Y L costs more. Registration, insurance and other expenses add to the final price.

Tesla is promoting the offer through its Switch and Save Carnival from October 23 to 25. While the lower monthly cost sounds attractive, buyers should focus on the actual EMI and total ownership expenses before booking the electric SUV.
