Covid19: ‘Expect worst in June and July’ – AIIMS Director

While countries like Italy and Israel have claimed recently that they are getting ready with a potential vaccine for the novel virus, the director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, Dr. Randeep Guleria, stated today that much worse is yet to come in the months of June and July. And with his words, looks like the next six week are extremely crucial.

The peak of the pandemic outbreak is yet to arrive in India and according to the director of AIIMS, he says it would happen around June-July. “As per the modeling data and with a rapid spike in the cases, it is likely that the peak can come in June and July. But, there are many variables and with time only we will know how much they are effective and the effect of extending the lockdown,” Guleria said.

We are seeing the daily updates of India are quite alarming and the total number of cases are increasing uncontrollably. And when we compare the graph of March-end to now, today’s numbers are least did we imagine and look pretty disastrous.

On the one hand, the central government is showing confidence and is boosting the public that the pandemic will come to an end, at least in India. But, on the other hand, health experts are predicting the worst in the coming months. So far, India has reported 53,000 plus cases across the country and nearly 1,800 deaths over the past four months.
