Covid-19: India Records Highest Single Day Deaths With 1761

India has reported the highest single day deaths of Covid-19 with 1761 and this is the biggest death tally since the outbreak. Coming to the fresh infections, they are 2,59,170 but these figures do not include cases and deaths from Ladakh. According to the Union Health Ministry, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan are among the 10 states that account for 78.58 per cent of the new Covid-19 cases.

Maharashtra, the country’s worst-impacted state, reported 58,924 fresh coronavirus cases while New Delhi reported 23,686 new cases. The national capital also reported the highest deaths in a single day with 240 people succumbing in the last 24 hours. However, Delhi is expected to go for a lockdown and so the cases might come down in the coming days.

Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are the following most impacted states. Kerala has imposed night curfew while AP has brought measures such as fifty percent occupancy in theatres.

India’s active cases count has crossed 20 Lakh mark and currently the figures stand at 20,31,977 and the total death tally is 1,80,530.

The vaccination as per the Union Health Ministry is 12,71,29,113 and this could go up from May 1st, as the government decided to allow everyone above 18 years to take a vaccine.
