Nicholas Pooran’s rough patch is continuing in this edition of IPL. The West Indies cricketer, who was explosive last year, is completely failing to make double-digit scores this year. Pooran registered four ducks in seven games he played this season.
Pooran has a zero ball duck, single ball duck, two-ball duck, and a three-ball duck in the list. He got out without facing any ball in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He got out for a golden duck in the match against Rajasthan Royals. CSK managed to get him out for a silver duck. Last night, RCB dismissed him for a three-ball duck. His scores in other matches are 9 and 19. He didn’t get a chance to bat in the match against Mumbai Indians.
The other batsmen who registered four ducks in an IPL season are Herschelle Gibbs (2011), Mithun Manhas (2011), Manish Pandey (2012), and Shikhar Dhawan (2020). Pooran was visually frustrated when he got out last night. The luck is not favoring him this season. Punjab stayed with him for seven games and now, people are asking the team to replace him with No.1 T20I batsman Dawid Malan.
The English batsman is warming the bench for the last seven games. Fans feel that he deserves a chance for his exceptional talent. We have to see if Punjab Kings finally drop Pooran and gives a chance to Malan.
