Upasana’s Grandfather Is No More

Upasana Kamineni Konidela’s paternal grandfather and Kamineni patriarch Umapathy Rao Kamineni, father of Upasana’s father Anil Kamineni, passed away. He breathed his last today. He was 92-year-old. He had been unwell for a while due to age-related ailments. Umapathy Rao was the last living person who was born at Domakonda fort. He had served as an IAS officer and retired.

Upasana is very much attached to her grandfather. She fondly calls him as Uma Thatha. For the past few days, she has been with her grandfather at Apollo hospital and personally took care of him. In fact, Upasana had interviewed him for his 90th birthday and made him recall his childhood memories. The interview was published on her YouTube channel earlier.

Sharing the news of his demise, Upasana posted an elaborate tribute to her doting granddad. She wrote, “Umapathy Rao of The Erstwhile Samasthan of Domakonda – IAS 15th June 1928 to 27th May 2020 witnessed the struggle of Razakar movement, India’s fight for freedom & many more historic events.
