Shocking: Pvt Hospitals Procured 1.29 Cr Vaccines, Used Only 22 lakh

Private hospitals in every state are cashing in on the Covid-19 second wave. Imposing lakhs of bill on a single patient, hospitals are minting in crore. Not stopping here, private hospitals are also taking advantage of the vaccine. Before PM Modi’s announcement, private hospitals used to acquire vaccines.

Accordingly in May month 1.29 crore vaccines were procured by the private hospitals and in a shocking data, only 17 per cent of these total vaccines which means only 22 Lakh vaccines were administered.

The prime reasons being, high price of the vaccine and people preferring government hospitals over private ones led to this situation. This means over 1 crore vaccines are yet to be administered.

This is an alarming situation as India is going through a vaccine shortage. It would have been idle if these vaccines were provided at the government run hospitals.

Meanwhile from June 21st, the Centre will be rolling out vaccines at free of cost. Simultaneously the Centre has left the option to people, if they are willing to take the vaccine jab at private hospitals. Accordingly the prices for vaccines at private hospitals were also announced.

Hope this situation doesn’t repeat in June month and people take vaccines and avoid contracting the virus.
