Head Of The World’s Largest Family Passes Away

Zionghaka, popularly known as Ziona Chana, who was believed to be the head of the world’s largest family, passed away the other day. The 76-year-old Chana has 38 wives, 89 children, and 33 grandchildren. As per the reports, he passed away due to ill-health.

According to the sources, Chana had been sick since June 7. He lost his hunger and was unable to eat anything. He fell unconscious on June 11th and was immediately shifted to a hospital in Aizawl. He passed away on Sunday afternoon while undergoing treatment. Apparently, he also suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.

Chana was born on July 21st, 1945, and got married for the first time at the age of 17. His first wife was three years older than him. Chana’s village has become a major tourist spot due to the presence of his large family.

Mizoram’s Chief Minister Zoramthanga paid his condolences by tweeting, “With a heavy heart, #Mizoram bid farewell to Mr. Zion-a (76), believed to head the world’s largest family, with 38 wives and 89 children. Mizoram and his village at Baktawng Tlangnuam has become a major tourist attraction in the state because of the family. Rest in Peace Sir!”
